Creative Movement for Grown Ups
Facilitated by Nicole Wolcott
6-week series: Tuesdays October 8-November 12 @ 5:30-6:40pm
This class is for anyone— novices and trained dancers alike; anybody who enjoys having their kinesthetic intelligence challenged and likes to play. As a choreographer Nicole is as interested in the dancer as the dance. She midwifes dances from the people she works with. Professionals and novices alike. This class comes from her research and process. It is akin to creative movement for little kids, except better. You will come to understand your own movement signature and choice making with playfulness, groove and rigor.
All classes begin with the same guided warm-up each week listening to what your body needs and pushing it a little further. This is followed by methodologies for generating movement from your own body's imagination. Word salad for: Playing a game with rules, with a prize! We realize our passion for movement by exploring the variables for movement within our own body surrounded by music and kindred spirits. YOU have a singular movement signature, an imagination and a groove. Let go of judgment, invite in curiosity and, dear god, a sense of humor. This is the J.O.D. they Joy of Dance.
Series of seven 70-minute classes: $75.00
