Embodied Movement Workshop

This workshop is geared towards the questions of:

How do we feel embodied in our movement? What skills do we already have and which ones can we use this time to build?

Exploring different qualities of movement with prompts guiding textures, body parts, speeds, imagery, and dynamics. Each session will build on itself as we delve deeper into our tool building around embodied movement, with our main focus remaining with the questions of: how does this feel in my body, how do I come back to what feels more present and true for me, and how do I recognize and get curious about discomforts and blockages on this journey?

The progression of the workshop will start with eyes closed movement, adding in eyes open, exploring relationship to the spaces and others, inviting touch, and experimenting with varied expressions of contact.

Bring a journal and something to write with, water, wear comfy clothes and layers. Be prepared to talk, listen or journal for 30 min at the start and the end of the session, with 1 hour of guided movement accompanied by DJ Belly Scruggs music curation (DJ'd live). MASKS REQUIRED, 18+, ADA accessible, all dance experience (or non-experience) welcome and encouraged!

No registration required, just show up! $5-25 cash or Venmo

Rylee Moore grew up in Missoula and has since studied dance at University of North Carolina School of the Arts for the high school conservatory program (ballet and contemporary), graduating in 2018. Rylee then continued on for 2 years at London Contemporary Dance School before the pandemic required them to return to Missoula. Since then they have become a Licensed Massage Therapist and currently practice at Good Medicine Massage and Acupuncture, and are well on their way to becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

Rylee is passionate about working with the nervous system, supporting people to have more access to a full spectrum of sensation grounded in the here and now, and developing tools for people to have more agency in their lives guided by this sense of connection to their body, spirit and life. Rylee enjoys connecting with people over the joy of dance and is excited to be leading their first workshop accompanied by a curation of music DJ'd live by their friend and fellow artist Belly Scruggs.
