Movement and Composition with Nervous Theatre company member, Isabel Shaida
a workshop offered as part of westFEST
Saturday, September 16
12:00pm-2:00pm
$15.00 or free w/ Festival Pass
In this workshop, participants will rediscover their relationship to space and each other while exploring movement practices and devising exercises used in Nervous Theatre’s process of collaborative theatre-making.
The company works with variety of entry points to generate physical material and create theatrical compositions. Isabel particularly enjoys drawing upon the language of the Viewpoints which offers the artist a way to practice observing the present moment with increasing sensitivity, and to respond with greater range -- developing flexibility, articulation, and strength in movement for both the individual and ensemble.
All bodies welcome. Ages 16 & up.
People of varying experience, backgrounds and demographics are encouraged to participate.
Isabel Shaida is a movement artist and community organizer. In addition to her work with Nervous Theatre, Isabel has devised original works and has performed with Monica Bill Barnes & Co. and Double Edge Theatre. She continues to train with SITI Co. and Wendell Beavers and studies somatic embodiment. She believes that through caring for one another, entering our bodies, we can create structural change.
